The luxury slow traveler
Six nights across three continents sounds chaotic but this route actually rewards the kind of traveler who lets a city reveal itself slowly rather than chasing a checklist. Medellín is the easy win here — spend mornings in El Poblado or Laureles with a coffee and nowhere to be, then use the Metro Cable up to Comuna 13 in the late afternoon when the light is softer and the crowds from the morning tours have thinned out. Nairobi is where most people stumble because they treat it purely as a safari gateway and miss that the city itself has a genuinely interesting food and art scene, particularly around the Westlands neighborhood where you can eat well and actually talk to people. The big practical issue with this itinerary is that Nairobi sits in the middle, and if you do not buffer at least a half-day for the connection through whatever hub you are using, the whole thing gets compressed in ways that make the chill pace impossible. Dubai is best treated as a decompression stop rather than a destination on this trip, which means skipping the obvious tower and mall moments and instead heading to Al Quoz or the Alserkal Avenue arts district, which most people blow past entirely. Pack layers for Nairobi regardless of what the forecast says, and do not underestimate how much the altitude in Medellín affects your energy in the first day or two.
